Holy Trinity Church, Guernsey

"Setting up our new website with the Church Pages team has been brilliant! We looked at a number of options before working with the team and nothing compared with the level of support and quality that they supply.

The Church Pages content management system is set up in a really intuitive way and makes it very easy to learn how to manage your site even if you're complete beginners. Highly recommended!"

David Girard - Youth Pastor, Holy Trinity Guernsey Church

Holy Trinity Guernsey Church is a vibrant church in the town of St Peter Port, Guernsey. At the end of 2016 the church was looking for a new website presence that was not only mobile-friendly, but also very easy to update. Having seen the Harbour Church Portsmouth website, Holy Trinity got in touch to discuss what they wanted from their website to see if Church Pages could help them. After hearing how Church Pages works, and the vision behind the initiative, Holy Trinity sent in an Application Form and the process of building their new website began.

How the website was designed and built

Although Church Pages have a number of templates to choose from Holy Trinity, Guernsey wanted something a bit more bespoke that meet their needs and so opted for a combination of our Boaz and Damascus templates. It was essential for the church that they could manage their content, and alter the images that appear on the site. With this in mind we asked for some information from the church including:

  • The church's logo as a high resolution image.
  • A list of the folders and pages that they wanted on their site
  • The copy that was to go on the pages
  • High resolution images
  • Links to social media platforms
  • Any other information that they thought would be useful.

Once we had everything we needed then our Creative Team were able to build the site and then we worked with Holy Trinity Church Guernsey to ensure that everything within the site was what they wanted.

We then provided training to the team at Holy Trinity so that they felt comfortable to make changes themselves, knowing that we are only an email or phone call away.

What else did Church Pages do?

We also added in optimisation tags for the website to help Google know what the website and its contents were about. We knew that this would also help the website to be found by Google and hopefully assist members of the public looking for a church in Guernsey to find Holy Trinity via Google.

A link to the church's Facebook page was also created to help web visitors link to Holy Trinity's social media presence, and we also added in web stats so the church could determine the number of visitors to the site and what actions they took once they arrived.

How did the website switch from the old one to the new Church Pages website?

We knew that Holy Trinity wanted to keep their email where it was, but asked Church Pages to be the domain name server for the domain holytrinity.org.gg. We therefore became this and the email for the church remained unchanged.

Conclusion

The team at Church Pages were very happy to have helped Holy Trinity to create a modern, responsive, and informative website and have been so pleased to see it being used to keep the community of Guernsey up to date with what is happening at the church.
