St John's Church, Crawley

"When you start a new Church it is very much like starting a new business. You just know that your website is going to be crucial, but so often in the busyness of all the other tasks that you just don’t seem to have the time or the expertise to invest in it.

And then along came Church Pages and the Khooseller team...

They took the worry and demands of website design off our hands. They listened to what we wanted the website to portray and the function we wanted the website to perform. They then created a beautiful and practical website that ticks all of our users boxes.

Thank you so much Church Pages for your listening, expertise and reliability."

Steve Burston, St John's Crawley

HTB Brighton's new church plant into St John's Crawley meant that the church required a new website that reflected their mission statement to 'Love Jesus, Love People, Love Church and Love Crawley'. As different congregations already existed at St John's the website needed to reflect the diverse range of worship styles and congregations at St John's ,as well as be welcoming to those outside of the church.

The church also wanted a mobile-friendly site that was easy to update. Having seen the Harbour Church Portsmouth website, St John's got in touch to discuss what they wanted from their website, and to see if Church Pages could help. Following discussions St John's sent in an Application Form, and the process of building their new website commenced.

How the website was designed and built

St John's Crawley wanted to have a custom designed website which they could update themselves. Fortunately St John's has very talented members in their congregation and so we were able to have well shot photographs along with a clear brand document that helped us to create a site that reflected what they wanted. The finished website benefits from the following:

  • A highly engaging home page that reflects the mission of the church.
  • A home page that honour's the past whilst building for the future.
  • An Instagram feed on the home page.
  • An embedded link to Church Suite.
  • Access controlled areas for congregation and leaders.
  • Sermons uploaded.
  • Google map so that the church can be found easily.
  • Links to social media so that people can connect online

The Church Pages team really enjoyed working on the new St John's Crawley website and it was great to see the site coming together.

What else did Church Pages do?

Church Pages worked with St John's guiding them on what images would work and what information would be useful. We also added optimisation tags and structured data, and gave training on how to edit the website.

How did the website go live?

We purchased St John's Crawley's domain and set up the domain name settings for them.

Conclusion

It was fantastic to work with St John's Crawley to launch their new website and to see that it is being used to encourage people to connect with the church.
