Daron Medway - Vicar, Holy Trinity Church, Weston
Holy Trinity Weston, Southampton is a church that describes itself as "a small church in Weston for anyone who’s serious about following Jesus as he is revealed in God’s word, the bible". Daron Medway, the Vicar, contacted Church Pages in the summer of 2017 having received one of our emails and being drawn to the ethos behind the platform. Weston, Southampton is an area that has featured in the national news because of child poverty. The area's tower blocks stand out in the landscape, and the demographic of the community is very mixed.
Speaking with Daron it was encouraging to hear his heart for his parish and we really wanted to be able to support him in providing a website that was accessible to the community he serves.
How the website was designed and built
Daron wanted a website that he could easily update himself and felt warm and welcoming. Daron felt that the Damascus template would work well for his church and so despite his heavy workload he set about getting everything together so that we could design and build the website.
We were particularly exited by his Holy Trinity Weston's logo. Distinct and modern this was an excellent starting point for our design team who set about creating a site that was clean, responsive and friendly.
What else did Church Pages do?
The church's website benifitted from optimisation tags, structured data, and links to social media. We were keen to help the church to be found in the area, and for people to get a good feel for what the church was about.
We also provided the church with a Secure Certificate so that the church's website would be considered secure by Google.
How did the website switch from the old one to the new Church Pages website?
We knew that Holy Trinity wanted to continue to keep their email address, and so they simply altered the A record for the domain to point to their new website on the Church Pages' platform.
Helping Holy Trinity Weston with their website was a great pleasure for the team at Church Pages because of the challenges faced by the church. Knowing that the website can now be accessed by all devices, is easy to read and navigate, and has the feel of a warm and welcoming church, encourages us that the Church Pages Initiative really is making a difference.
