St Eligius Church, Arborfield Green, Reading

'As someone who has very little understanding of how to design and build a website, I cannot recommend Church Pages enough.

As an ex-garrison church which was attracting a regular army congregation up until they moved out of the area 2 years ago, the task ahead of creating a website which would be attractive to the new community which I am ministering in was an enormous challenge, however Heather wasn’t phased by any of it and her patience and detail to the task was reassuring.

From start to finish herself and the rest of the team worked closely with me and spent hours looking and helping to find appropriate photos and texts. She guided me through the best way to take photos and what would look good on the site, as well as assisting on content which she felt would be appropriate to the audience I was trying to reach.

All in all, I am totally thrilled with how the website looks and would recommend any church who wants to have a very professional site built at an extraordinarily good price to get in touch with church pages.'

Rev Tonia Elliot, Community Minister, St Eligius Church, Arborfield Green, Reading.

St Eligius Community Church, Arborfield Green, Reading is an Anglican church set in a lovely garden village in Berkshire. St Eliigus is a former garrison church with a desire for people to "feel at home with us, and join our exciting journey as we become a new and growing community where everyone is welcome".

Tonia contacted Church Pages in late spring 2018 as she had seen one of our emails and liked the ethos of the Church Pages Initiative. After some discussions regarding how easy Church Pages was to use she applied for a site and the design and build journey began.

How the website was designed and built

St Eligius chose the Boaz template for their website. With so much going on for Tonia it was amazing that she was able to provide us with such wonderful images and copy! It was absolutely vital that we designed a website that reflected the heart of the church, and St Eligius' ethos that everyone is welcome.

The finished website has turned out really well, and we have had plenty of positive feedback about it. We were particularly pleased that we were able to design and build a church website that is:

  • Vibrant and clean, with images that reflect the vibrant nature of this new community church.
  • Outward looking and full of information for the newcomers to Arborfield Green.
  • Easy to keep up to date, even with limited time.
  • Rich with contact forms so that the community can sign up for different events e.g. Alpha.

What else did Church Pages do?

We made the site responsive so that the St Eligius' Church website would work on all devices, and we provided the site with a Secure Certificate.

How did the website go live?

The domain for the website had been recently purchased and so it was very simple to get the site live.

Conclusion

St Eligius Church faces a challenge of being relevant to the community of Arborfield Green, Reading. With new houses being built it was essential that the St Eligius Church website was outward looking and clearly showed all that the church offered to its community. The finished website certainly has the feel of a welcoming, happy church where everyone is welcome.

We are so pleased to see that Tonia and her team are busy updating the site and keeping it relevant and fresh so that it can be a place where Jesus can be encountered in a real and friendly way.
