Donna John - Director, Ignite Trust

Ignite Trust is a charity that works with young people aged 12-25 to help them re-engage with education, find employment, or move on from anti-social behaviour, gang involvement and exploitative relationships. Based in Harrow the charity has had a website with Church Pages since 2016.

The charity changed its name in 2020 and decided that they wanted a more bespoke website that was designed more for the 12-25 demographic. With this in mind we worked closely with the team at Ignite to design a site that worked well on mobile devices, included video content, and reflected their new branding.

How the website was designed and built

Ignite spent some time determining the aims and objectives of the website, and fine tuning their content so that it met the needs of its clients. To this end copy was removed and video content added. The opening video is particularly strong and engaging, and gives web visitors a good idea of what Ignite is about.

The website was also reviewed by a number of young people to evaluate their response to the site, and amends made accordingly.

HTB Brighton's church plant into St John's Crawley meant that the church required a new website that reflected their mission statement to 'Love Jesus, Love People, Love Church and Love Crawley'. When the church grew by inviting St Peter's and St Richard's to join them in their mission, the website needed a radical overhaul to reflect the new family of churches.

How the website was designed and built

With such a radical change Church Crawley wanted a new website that reflected that they were one Church, whilst being three churches. With new branding and photographs Church Pages was set the task of creating a website that had two-tier navigation, whilst being easy to manage. The Church had always maintained the site themselves (with help from us when requested or needed), and so it was essential that the site could be edited simply, and work seamlessly with ChurchSuite,

When everything was ready then we helped Church Crawley with pointing their domains to our servers so that the new site could be seen.

We were approached by Bellevue Chapel, Edinburgh to update their website. They wanted a site that reflected their warmth and values, as well as being easy to edit. The church chose to have a bespoke website so that they could incorporate some of their ideas on what they wanted to feature on their home page. It was also important that the website worked seamlessly with ChurchSuite.

Bellevue Chapel also wanted to incorporate a video on their home page. Church Pages used their skills to create a video that gives an excellent introduction to the church. We also edited all the images to ensure that they match the branding of the site.

Bellevue Church has a real heart for its community. The church is full of life, joy, warmth, and welcome. We were so pleased to have been given the opportunity to create a website that reflected their heart and ethos and the Bellevue Chapel, Edinburgh's website is a good example of how to use your website to engage with your local community.

We made a whole host of changes and tweaks along the way, as is true of most website builds I suspect, but we were never made to feel awkward about that – there was a real sense that the Church Pages team wanted the website to look as good and function as well as we did. I’m pretty ignorant around website, coding and digital vocabulary and it was a Godsend to have Heather and her colleagues at the other end of the phone willing to take me step by step through any of the process that I had to carry out.

Roxeth Community Church, Harrow had a website that had served them well, but they wanted a site that better represented who they were as a church, and that they could easily update themselves.

The church is blessed with a fabulous designer who had created a very strong brand for the church that reflected its diverse and friendly nature. With a heart to take Jesus and His gospel out to their neighbourhood and beyond, Roxeth Community Church were looking for a website that would encourage those outside of the church to feel welcome, whilst being a place of information for their congregation.

After a couple of telephone conversations an application for a Church Pages' website was made and the process commenced.

How the website was designed and built

Roxeth Community Church wanted to have a website that reflected their designer's mock ups. They chose the Boaz template, but wanted some amends to match their thoughts on how the website might look. There was a great deal of collaboration with Roxeth's designer, who understood that print is quite a different medium from web and that ensuring that a design works on all devices, i.e. responsively, is highly challenging. Also there is often the problem with legibility with the web that is not so strongly encountered in print.

Roxeth were also fortunate to have a professional photographer in their congregation and so the images that we were sent through were very strong and well shot. The finished website benefits from the following:

Kiara, Church of the Living God, Twickenham

Zac Abraham, the pastor of Church of the Living God (CotLG) first contacted us to discuss hosting his website. After chatting with us, and finding out that we had a ChurchSuite integration the church decided that they wanted a bespoke website that was easier to edit, and better reflected their community.

How the website was designed and built

We worked very closely with CotLG to ensure that we worked within their brief and provided the website that they were hoping for. We were deeply moved by their church's videos and wanted to ensure that the website reflected the sense of family and togetherness that the congregation clearly felt. The depth of relationships between members were clearly visible from their imagery and it was important to  us that this was clear from the design.

What else did Church Pages do?

We added in custom design in places to give the site its own identity. From the logo we chose the site's colours, and ensured that they worked well to provide an aesthetic look to the site.

We also chose the images from the amazing selection that we were sent to reflect the joy, friendship, and fellowship that is at the heart of the church. The passion for the Word and for Jesus shines through all that they do, and we wanted that to shine through the website.

As part of the design fee we added optimisation tags to all pages, and provided a comprehensive training session for the team at CotLG so that they could learn how to edit their site. Within this advice was given on how to add title tags to pages and the importance of content for search engines.

We were daily on hand during the first few weeks of the site's launch as CotLG became familiar with how to edit their site.

The Church Pages' software integrates with Google Analytics, but we also added in analytics software that is very simple to use to help CotLG see how their site performs.

Conclusion

We were pleased with the final website and happy that CotLG could use ChurchSuite to help promote events, services, and reach out to the community with ease.

Jesus Ministries came about after a few pastors in the UK began to experience a fresh work of the Spirit that enabled them to hear God more accurately, have greater confidence in their identity and authority in Christ, and become more aware to the invisible spirt realm.

With a growing number of churches wanting to develop more deeply biblical, supernatural ways of living life and expressing the kingdom, Jesus Ministry evolved into a partnering and teaching resource.

How the website was designed and built

We created the website by working closely with the Jesus Ministry team. We discussed their vision for the website to determine how to design and build the website that would grow as the more churches engage with the teaching. It was essential that the site:

• enabled courses to be booked,
• participating churches to be found,
• talks could be heard, and
• sermons from YouTube could be accessed
• ability to purchase courses.

Fortunately Jesus Ministry provided all the images and copy for the proposed site quickly, and gave us the information on churches that are already participating in the ministry. Knowing what was required from the website we were able to use the logo, and the tone of the images, to set the heart of the design. The whole Church Pages team worked together to create not only the design, but also to ensure that the site had the functionality that was needed.

The finished website has the following features:

• A strongly branded website that works on all devices.
• An easy to navigate site that enables courses to be booked.
• A directory that helps web visitors to find a church that participates in Jesus Ministry
• Links to teaching videos on YouTube.
• An accessed controlled area to purchase the Living Free course.

The site was finished within the timescale set and we were able to help Jesus Ministry to get the site live before their major conference in November 2018.

To help Jesus Ministry to be found online we added in optimisation tags for the website and gave training on how this can be done on a Church Pages website. We also filled in the structure data settings for Google and added in web stats so that the church could see the number of visitors to their site, and what actions they took when they got there.

How did the website switch from the old one to the new Church Pages website?

We had management of the Jesus Ministry domain so putting the site live was simple.

The team at Church Pages enjoyed helping Jesus Ministry launch their new website and were pleased with the final result.

Rev Dr Adrian Datta, Rector, St. Pierre du Bois, Guernsey

St Peter's Church, Guernsey (also known as St Pierre du Bois) is an ancient parish church that celebrates hospitality, hope, and humour. Being a sister church of Holy Trinity, Guernsey Adrian was already aware of how easy Church Pages was to use and so contacted us so that we could help him to have a website that reflects his and St Peter's heart for Guernsey.

How the website was designed and built

As a sister church to Holy Trinity Guernsey it was important that the St Peter's website was not too dissimilar to theirs. They chose the Boaz template and were fortunate enough to access to some stunning professionally shot photographs. These really helped to set the tone of the site, which needed to celebrate the fact that St Pierre du Bois has been a place of worship for centuries, whilst not losing site of the need to be relevant to this generation.

Starting from scratch helped in certain respects. Although Adrian had a strong sense of what he wanted from the site he was happy to be guided by the Church Pages' team as we designed and built the site. It was exciting as everything came together and what had been spoken about and envisaged became a reality.

Margaret Markie, Church Administrator, Haven Green Baptist Church, Islington

Haven Green Baptist Church, Ealing describes itself as "a diverse community, joyfully worshipping God with our whole lives, and joining with Him in transforming Ealing and beyond." And when you read their website, and see their truly engaging photos, you will get a sense of what a warm and friendly church it is.

Haven Green made contact with Church Pages during lockdown 2020 because they wanted a more user-friendly website. With the onset of lockdown the church wanted to incorporate live services on their site, as well as have a site that was easy to update themselves, and could be used to engage with their local community.

The church had its own brand document and had clear objectives, which helped to give us here at Church Pages clear guidelines on what Haven Green Baptist Church wanted from their website.

How the website was designed and built

With a clear remit of what Haven Green Baptist Church wanted we set to work creating the website using the Boaz template. We were particularly impressed with the quality of the photographs. All of them worked well responsively, and were beautifully shot to provide warm and engaging images. Being able to capture members of the congregation without them noticing is a real art, and certainly helps to add to the user's experience.

We really enjoyed creating this website as the images and branding were strong, and the warmth of Haven Green Baptist Church really shone through the images and the copy. The site has worked well for them since its launch and we are pleased that we have been able to help with this

We also felt strongly about this issue, and wanted to address it, but there never seemed to be enough time to do it. So when we were introduced to Hoi Fei it felt like a real blessing as the website was able to become a reality.

The aim of the Disability Freedom site is to provide an easy to search directory that offers information about accessible and inclusive activities, classes, clubs and holiday accommodation for children with disabilities. Blessed by Hoi Fei's experience, we were able to create a user-journey that reflects the needs of the demographic.

How the website was designed and built

As a parent of a child with learning needs Hoi Fei was able to direct us on what needed to be achieved. From her brief we were able to design and build the site, focusing on the the user journey so that information could be quickly found. We designed the logo and branding for the website, and sourced appropriate video scenes that reflect the Disability Freedom's target audience.

Church Page's Directory Module enables the whole of the UK to be searched for inclusive classes and groups, and our attribute filter enables the user to filter the activities by:

• Mainstream or Special
• Type of activity
• Disability catered for
• Accessibility
• Parking
• Childcare and Respite, and
• Age.

Once the site became highly populated we divided the UK into different areas to improve usability.

Visitors to the site are also able to suggest a listing, and each listing has comprehensive information included in it.

• A contemporary responsive website that is strongly branded and reflects the demographic.
• An easy to navigate website that enables inclusive activities to be found quickly..
• A website that is easy to manage.

We optimised the site and added in Disability Freedom's Instagram feed.

As we had purchased the domain, putting the site live was simple.

It was such a privilege to be able to work on this project. Hoi Fei has been tireless in her work on populating the site and we are pleased with the warm response it has received.

Alys Bassett, St Chads Church, Romiley

St Chads Church, Romiley is a a relaxed and informal church family of all generations with a simple goal to see more people, become more like Jesus

How the website was designed and built

We were contacted by St Chads because they wanted a website that integrated seamlessly with ChurchSuite. They also wanted a site that they could easily edit themselves, but that had support available if needed.

The Isaiah template seemed to be the best template base for St Chads. We were fortunate to have some excellent photographs to work with along with a good video, and the church were clear on the hierarchy of the site.

• A site that is based on a template, but has its own branded design touches that gives the site a cohesive look.

Revd Ian Tomkins Vicar, St Matthew's Church, Bristol

St Matthew's Church, Bristol is a warm and welcoming church located in Kingsdown. The church desires to worship God and to encourage growth in faith and service of the community.

How the website was designed and built

Revd Ian Tomkins approached Church Pages with some questions about our website software. He wanted to know how easy it was to edit and whether it would work with ChurchSuite. We worked closely with Ian for some considerable time as he took the church on a gentle journey towards understanding that the church would benefit from a more modern website before an application to have a website was made.

The church was blessed with help from an ordinand Rob Cromwell, who had clear ideas as to what the church's demographic needed from a website. We worked closely with him to create a completely new website that wasn't quite bespoke, but benefitted from new elements that had not been used in a templated Church Pages design before.

It was very important to St Matthew's that the emphasis of the website was functionality on a mobile. We therefore decreased line length, used graphic blocks to help navigation, and integrated seamlessly  with ChurchSuite. The site was based on the Isaiah template, but was tweaked to give the site a more bespoke look.

We added in optimisation to the website, and gave training on how to edit the software. In addition we suggested that the church might want to use Google not for profit email, which they had not heard of, but provided the ideal solution for them.

How did the website go live?

Once the church was happy with the finished site, and training had been undertaken on how to make changes to the site, St Matthews made us their name servers so that we could make the site live.

Conclusion

The website is providing an excellent platform for the church to engage with its community. It has been well received by the congregation and has improved the churches communication.

Bishop Bartholomew Orji, Life Centre Bible Church

Life Centre Bible Church is a welcoming church based in South East London. With a mission to bring the life transforming love and power of Jesus Christ through the ministry gifts of the Holy Spirit to as many as possible, Bishop Barth wanted a more modern website to reflect his heart for the community that he serves and asked Church Pages to help.

How the website was designed and built

Bishop Barth wanted a more modern website to reflect his heart for the community that he serves and asked Church Pages to help. Bishop Barth felt that the Boaz template would work well and sent us through the church's logo from which we determined the colours for the site. We amended the design of the logo to make it web friendly and created a reverse logo to use in the footer.

 We used stock images for the site that were in-keeping with Life Centre's demographic and vision and values.

Darren and Shan, The Cross Keys Llanfyllin

The Cross Keys, Llanfyllin is an all-inclusive community hub at the heart of Llanfyllin, which has been set up to encourage and serve those in their community.

How the website was designed and built

We met Darren and Shan at the beginning of their vision to have a community hub in the heart of Llanfyllin. It is rare to find such passion and commitment to provide not only support and commitment to their local area, but wanting their community to encounter the Gospel through hospitality and support. So when The Cross Keys, an historic pub in the heart of Llanfyllin, was purchased we offered to help Darren and Shan create a website that reflected their heart and ethos.

It was important too that as Llanfyllin has a strong Welsh speaking community that the site was in Welsh in parts.

Seeing God at work in a project is always exciting! It helped us to create a site that Darren could keep up to date himself, and the website has grown considerably since it was launched. Featuring the pub on the home page seemed essential, as this is where everything takes place. Also having a photo of a group enjoying food together on the home page was also important as it sets the tone of the site with hospitality being a key tenet.

• Clear calls to action so that users can find appropriate information quickly.

Conclusion

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Pete Walters because his enthusiasm was infectious. His passion for Jesus, and his desire to impact his community with the Gospel shone through at every stage. Everything we asked for, he provided from strong imagery to excellent copy, and in turn we created what he and his team had in mind.

Zoom proved to be our friend as different members of Church Pages, and Kings Church, Iver found themselves working from home, but despite this we are very pleased with the end result.

Ismael Luzia, Funchal Baptist Church, Madeira

Igreja Baptista do Funchal, Madeira is a warm and welcoming Baptist Church in Funchal. It is a growing church that places the Gospel and relationships at its centre. Amongst visitors to the island it is known as Funchal Baptist Church, with an English service every Sunday morning. It was through the English service that we first got to know the church, and despite our lack of Portuguese we attended the evening service (quietly translated for us) and enjoyed the teaching and the warm welcome.

How the website was designed and built

Funchal Baptist Church wanted to update their website so that it worked well on mobile devices and helped their community to know more about them. They are also very busy refurbishing an old church to provide a new church building, and wanted the site to have information on this, that could be updated as the project progressed.

Portuguese websites do have a slightly different look to UK websites and so we worked very closely with Ismael to ensure that the site was culturally appropriate. Together we chose colours, images, and the hierarchy of the site. There were times when Google translate let us down, but fortunately Ismael was on hand to help us. Who would have known that there were subtle differences between Brazilian Portuguese and Madeiran Portuguese?!

Although we were happy to create a bespoke site for the church the layout of the site fitted with the Isaiah template and so this template became the basis of the site.

The finished website benefits from:

Having been regular visitors to Igreja Baptista do Funchal we were keen to help the church to have a strong web presence on the island of Madeira. We were pleased with the end result, and grateful for all the help Ismael (and his wife Varnia) gave us in inputting the copy for the site.

Lizzie Ashley, Project Leader, The Lighthouse Project Crawley

From time to time Church Pages are approached by Christian charities to have help with their online presence. The Lighthouse Project Crawley knew of us through one of their trustees, Steve Burston, who is Vicar at St. John's Crawley. St John's have a website with us, and Steve thought that we might be able to help Lighthouse revamp their site.

How the website was designed and built

The Lighthouse Project is an ecumenical Christian Charity that exists to serve the schools of Crawley whilst sharing the Christian faith and values. The project is led by a team of staff and volunteers, and we were particularly impressed with their vision and commitment to ensure that every child and young person in Crawley will hear about the Christian faith and have the opportunity to explore how it could impact their own life.

The Lighthouse Project wanted a website that was responsive, contemporary, quick to load, easy to navigate, and simple to update. Lizzie Ashley, Project Leader, was very clear as to what she wanted for the website, which helped us to design a site that met her needs. As we worked with her we realised that we needed to create a new website template design, that was an extension of the Boaz template, but incorporated more blocks to add in further information. So the Isaiah template was birthed, and will be available soon.

This is not always easy to achieve, and it is so encouraging seeing the success and commitment of The Lighthouse Project to reach the children in their community with The Message that transforms lives.

Carwyn Hill, co-founder, Hope Health Action

Hope Health Action (HHA) is a Christian NGO passionate about providing life-saving health and disability care for the world’s most vulnerable, without any discrimination. The charity was birthed following Carwyn's response to a post-it note left on a notice board at a Christian conference. The note was written by the then President of The Baptist Convention of Haiti (Pastor Gedeon), who was in need of a bed having travelled to the UK and underestimated the cost of accommodation. Pastor Gedeon accepted Carwyn’s invitation and the two quickly connected. Pastor Gedeon subsequently invited Carwyn and two friends, Jonnie Horner and Rodney Wilson, to Haiti. Whilst there they were touched by the tragic and completely unnecessary death of an 11-year-old girl called Julia, who died simply due to a lack of basic health care. Feeling challenged by God at the injustice of what they’d witnessed they decided to start HHA.

Since that time HHA has provided health care for over 20,000 patients in Haiti, and provided life-saving and life-transforming care for people with disabilities in Haiti and Uganda.

How the website was designed and built?

HHA had a very specific brief with clear idea of the user journey that they wanted and the functionality that was needed. The site therefore sat better as a bespoke website, and fortunately Church Pages' software is ideally placed to create this type of site.

We were very blessed to be able to work alongside Michael Goldsmith, the Haiti/US Country Director, who is an accomplished designer. Working collaboratively the site evolved, and once the UK site was completed then we were able to build the US HHA website.

Honor Pacey (Chair of The Ekins Trust)

The Ekins Trust are a Christian charity providing educational grants to support Christian young people in the area of the Borough of Northampton.

Founded in 1704 by Hervey and Elizabeth Ekins in memory of their 15 year old daughter, Gertrude. The Ekins charity was based on thinking way ahead of its time . They believed that education was necessary for the poor, even girls and with their strong Christian ethos the Charity aimed to promote education amongst the young people in hardship. The work of this small charity continues to bless local young church members who need financial help towards their education.

How the website was designed and built

The Ekins Trust did not have a website, but trusted the Team at Church Pages to create the site from scratch. We worked with the Charity helping them to choose a domain, which we purchased on their behalf. Then we created a logo, chose colours for the website along with a font that was appropriate for the demographic and reflected the Charity's ethos.

We also created the copy on the website from the information provided by the Charity and created the Grant Application Forms.

The Ekins Trust chose the Gideon Template for its site, but we felt that it needed something more bespoke. We knew that the Charity provided help for young people that enabled them to further their educational potential. We learned of youngsters being given a musical instrument that they really wanted to learn, but couldn't afford. Also we heard about how The Ekins Trust helped local children who because of difficult circumstances couldn't afford a computer. It was heart warming to listen to real-life stories of change that had only been possible due to the tragic death of an only child so many years previously. What an amazing couple the Ekins were to consider how they could help others despite their loss.

St Martin's Church, Guernsey is a warm and friendly church in Guernsey. The church's vision is to see God’s love transform their lives, thier community, and their world.

How the website was designed and built

Carol contacted us having seen a couple of other churches' websites. She knew that she might find the process of having St Martin's website redesigned challenging, and wanted to work with a company that was there to support her. As Church Pages' aim is to support churches in their mission to outreach to their community then we were a good fit for Carol.

Fortunately Guernsey is a very beautiful island and so Carol supplied us with some outstanding photographs. We were also supplied with engaging photos from the every day life of the church, which helped to make the site look warm and friendly.

The embedded YouTube video on the home page of the website gave Rev Daniel Foot and opportunity to engage with the web visitor in a welcoming and warm way, making clear what the aim of the church was. His smiling face reflects the entire site, which was designed to be friendly, engaging, and easy to navigate.

We also worked with the logo colours to create a colour palette for the website that perfectly reflected the church. Harmonious colours were chosen that were warm, easy to read, and made the site clean and uncluttered.

Holy Trinity Guernsey Church is a vibrant church in the town of St Peter Port, Guernsey. At the beginning of  2022 the church decided to go for a complete rebrand of the website. James Le Tissier had a clear idea of what he wanted the website to look like, which included ChurchSuite events seamlessly onto the website.

From the start of the project we worked very closely with James to create the website that he had imagined. We were provided with a brand document and layouts to help us to create the pages. Bespoke presets were made and we worked with ChurchSuite to ensure that the events were fully integrated into home page..

As Church Pages provides the domain name server for the domain holytrinity.org.gg it was easy to switch to the new site.

We were pleased with the outcome of the site as it is highly engaging and easy to navigate. We are particularly pleased with the way that ChurchSuite's events sit seamlessly within the home page and the way that the rotating logo adds interest.

Philippa Boardman, St Mary Magdalene Church, Wandsworth

St Mary Magdalene Church, Wandsworth is a lively and inclusive church that is eager to give a warm welcome to everyone.

How the website was designed and built

When the contact form from Philippa first came in we could see that the church were in a bit of a difficult situation because they had had a website designed recently, but their provider had told them that they could no longer support the site. We called as soon as we received the email and started to create St Mary Magdalene's website in Church Pages.

The Isaiah template seemed the best fit for St Mary Magdalene, and we were fortunate enough to have a brand document, copy, and images. The site was large, with well over a hundred pages and so we set to work to create the site within the time limit of 6 weeks. We wanted the website to look modern without compromising the traditional feel of the church. We used effects to make the site more engaging and provided training so that the team at St Mary Magdalene could add pages themselves so that the information on the soldiers commemorated on the Memorial Rood Screen could be completed.

Wilmslow Parish is a parish of two churches that's describes itself as "ordinary folk with all of the back stories, quirks and foibles you'd expect, but who come together as two worshipping communities to learn how to love God with all our hearts, and to try to love our neighbours at least as much as ourselves."

Eddie Roberts contacted us as he'd worked with us previously and was confident that we would be able to design and build a website that was well designed, and easy to navigate. With two churches in Wilmslow Parish Eddie wanted to make sure that there was a clear visitor journey for folks landing on the home page.

We were pleased to be given a wonderful video of the church, and from that we were able to create a short video that reflects the warmth and fellowship found at Wilmslow Parish. There is one scene where Eddie is crouched down beside an older congregant as she receives communion, and the engagement between them is fabulous.

Elim Ryedale Church is a growing Pentecostal family church who love Jesus and have a heart for the people of Ryedale

How the website was designed and built

Elim Ryedale Church contacted us as they wanted a clean and modern website, which would allow them to upload sermons/podcasts, photos and play video. They were also hoping to use ChurchSuite and so were looking for a church website provider that seamlessly integrated with the software.

We spoke with Steve Crosse on the phone, and having determined what he needed, it was decided that the Isaiah template would work best with some bespoke design added in. Elim Ryedale had a strong logo that we used for the colours of the site as well as to add in some subtle branding touches. 3BS Church  are a community of welcoming Christians, meeting in churches across the parish of Beeding, Bramber and Botolph’s in West Sussex.

How the website was designed and built

Neill Stannard contacted us because they had a vision of what they wanted for the website and felt that Church Pages could help create this. Working with Neill's wife Kirsty we were able to design and build a site that reflected a parish comprising of three churches. 

We were able to use the logo to design some attractive branded backgrounds that added to the bespoke nature of the website. The Catholic Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Southwold with St Edmund, King & Martyr, Halesworth is a vibrant Catholic Community in East Suffolk, within the diocese of East Anglia.

How the website was designed and built

The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Parish is located in one of the prettiest areas in the country. Southwold is a quintessential coastal town with an award winning beach, and a stunning long pier. It is a popular destination for tourists and the Parish was aware that they needed to redesign their website so that visitors knew when services were, and where their Parish churches were situated. The Parish chose the Boaz catalogue because they wanted to keep their site as simple as possible. 

 With this in mind, and being provided with excellent copy, and some images we set to work creating the website. We were able to source stock images that worked well on the website, including a fabulous shot of Southwold pier.

Ismael Luzia, O Isma Pinta

We are blessed in the UK to have amazing resources to help our kids learn about the Bible. However, if you live in Portugal trying to find animated material in European Portuguese is virtually impossible.

O Isma Pinta was set up to meet that need. After running Sunday School and kids' bible camps in Portugual it became clear to the founder of O Isma Pinta, Ismael Luzia, that there was a real vacuum in biblical animated resources. "There were plenty of resources in Brazilian Portuguese, but I wanted to create something that my kids could enjoy in their native Portuguese to help them to learn more about God's word."

Being a skilled animator, and encouraged by his wife, O Isma Pinta came into being. "It really is a family mission because my wife and kids are so involved, writing and performing each film's kid song with me."

Ismael was very clear from the beginning what he wanted the website to look like and sent through the various assets so that we could create both an English and Portuguese website. 

The great thing about Church Pages' software is that it is so flexible and so we were able to create a bespoke site that gave visitors a good idea of what O Isma Pinta is about.

"There were plenty of resources in Brazilian Portuguese, but I wanted to create something that my kids could enjoy in their native Portuguese to help them to learn more about God's word."

Being a skilled animator, and encouraged by his wife, O Isma Pinta came into being. "It really is a family mission because my wife and kids are so involved, writing and performing each film's kid song with me.

How Did Church Pages Help?

The Church Pages' Initiative is not just about supporting churches to outreach to their communities, but we want to support Christian charities at the cutting edge. So when we heard about O Isma Pinta we wanted to get involved with the project. Building O Isma Pinta's English and Portuguese websites were just one way that we knew we could help.

Working closely with Ismael we were given wire-frames of precisely what he wanted the website to look like. The beauty of working with bespoke software, which we have programmed ourselves, is that you can then design and build a customised bespoke website. We were able to translate O Isma Pinta's animations into an animated home page that showcases Ismael's work perfectly. We created pages for his site that featured his videos, and how to donate to him. We have also added in the shop facility so that he will be able to sell merchandise and the original songs associated with his videos.

Looking Forward

For O Isma Pinta this is just the beginning of the adventure. We are hoping to partner with them as they bring new material online to help the children in Portugal find out more about the Bible and God's love for them.

How the website was designed and built

Peter Allison contacted Church Pages in late 2021 because the church wanted a fresh, clean, and modern website. It took some time for the project to be started, but once Royal Wootton were ready to go we worked with the Peter and Stephen from the church as they gathered all the information that was needed to create the website.

The site was based on the Isaiah template because the template has a clean and modern look, and is easy to navigate.

Royal Wootton Basset wanted the home page to help web visitors to immediately understand the heart of the church as well as give clear information about Sunday Services. A Members' area was also required so that the congregation could easily access documents and directories.

With usability a high priority for the church, the site was designed with clear calls to action and mobile users in mind.

What else did Church Pages do?

We chose the colours of the website and the font using Royal Wootton Bassett Methodist Church's logo as our starting point.

With expertise in commercial marketing we were able to help Peter and Stephen think about what messages they wanted to get across that communicated the heart of the Church to those people outside of it.

We added in optimisation to the website, and gave training on how to edit the software, and added in web stats.

How did the website go live?

Once the Church was happy with the finished site, and training had been undertaken on how to make changes to the site, Royal Wootton Bassett amended their domain settings so that their site could go live.

Conclusion

The feedback that we received was tremendous and it was good to know that the whole Church was pleased with the end result. Knowing that Royal Wootton Bassett Methodist Church is making a difference in their community, and shining Jesus' love and compassion to those within and outside of the Church makes our job worthwhile.

I would like to include all of Peter's thoughts on working with Church Pages which are as follows:

I first became aware of Church Pages when I saw the website of a local church and was
immediately struck by how fresh, clean and modern their site looked. The link at the bottom of their home page took me to the Church Pages website, where I was able to see the wide range and consistent quality of their work.

I was also impressed by the long list of websites they had done, and what an wide range
they represented – there were city and country churches, traditional and more
contemporary, ethnic churches, every denomination and non-denominational ones were all
included. I contacted the “webmaster” of the local church mentioned above, and he was
very positive about his dealings with Church Pages in every way.

So what sort of things impressed me before we went “live” in February 2023? Firstly, I was
clearly dealing with a company in touch with the modern online world and with professional
standards. They were also aware of the wide range of churches in our country, which
manage to cater for Christians from all backgrounds and serve their communities.

They knew just what questions to ask, which we had never really asked ourselves before.

Things like “How would you describe your church in a couple of sentences?” “What kind of
message are you trying to project with your website?” As we were constructing the site with them, they were able to ask probing questions so that the finer details of our pages were “spot-on”.

Our previous website was maintained by just one person and was in urgent need of an
update. This was achieved such that our new website looks completely different from the
old one and has received nothing but praise from our church members (which is a difficult
thing to achieve). We now have two church members who are able to maintain the site and
share responsibilities from day-to-day, with the expertise of Church Pages to back us up.
Finally, this was achieved for a modest one-off fee, with the monthly hosting charges very
similar to those of our previous provider. We would have no hesitation in recommending
Church Pages to other churches.

Chris Priddy, Sportily's Chief Operating Officer

Church Pages spoke with Chris Priddy at the very start of the launch of the Church Pages' Initiative. He was keen to work with us, but it wasn't until he started with Sportily that this opportunity afforded itself!

How the website was designed and built

Sportily is a sports ministry charity that is creating a network of sport and faith groups across Gloucestershire. The charity's heart is to see fresh expressions of church planted among children and young people, with sport, physical activity and well-being at their heart.

Backed by the Diocese of Gloucester the charity has been able to grow significantly in its reach and vision, and now has a team of workers (both paid and voluntary) delivering a wide range of sport and activity sessions in multiple locations

Sportily was born in October 2021, and approached Church Pages with a brief to create a website that embodied its key messages of having fun, making friends and joining in, and which also made the most of the bold graphics and visuals that had been created as its brand.

The vision that Sportily had as a charity resonated with the Church Pages team and we were excited to be able to work on this project.

Church Pages understood that the website's primary audience would be parents and guardians wishing to find activities for their children in Gloucestershire.

We were blessed by being given a clear brief, and an excellent brand document that naturally led to the design and hierarchy of website. The site was fully bespoke and incorporated CSS animation to add interest and engagement with the website. Church Pages also have a superb team of developers who are normally found working on API's for Amazon Vendor's. They worked alongside our Creative Director to ensure that there was a seamless integration to Sportily's booking system provider so that events were brought onto the each location's page and could be booked easily within the site.

• A user-friendly, responsive website that strongly reflects the charity's branding.
• A website that integrates with the BookWhen booking app.
• A website that can grow as the charity extends its reach.
• Support at the end of the phone when required.

We optimised the site and worked closely with BookWhen to ensure that the site remained useable as Sportily added more events.

How did the website go live?

We became the name server for the domain, but managed the MX and TXT records.

Conclusion

We thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of this project. The design needed to be engaging and meet the brand guidelines. Working with BookWhen enabled us to create a site that works well on desk top and mobile. Both Church Pages and Sportily were very pleased with the end result.

Matthew Henderson, Gerrard Street Baptist Church

Gerrard Street Baptist Church is a vibrant evangelical church in the heart of Aberdeen in the beautiful North East of Scotland.

How the website was designed and built

Gerrard Street Baptist Church contacted us as they wanted to have a fresh look to their website, and wanted to feature their Church Suite events on the home page. The church was growing and needed a website that was modern, vibrant, clean, and easy to manage. With Church Pages' having a seamless integration to ChurchSuite our software was the right fit for them.

The church spoke with us as to what template would work for them and felt that the Isaiah template gave them the flexibility that they needed. We worked with their existing logo and colours to create an engaging website that is easy to navigate.

We received very positive feedback from the church and we were pleased with the church's website design. Having worked with Gerrard Street Baptist Church, and had the privilege of reviewing photos of their church activities, we felt that the design reflected their demographic and is true to who they are as a warm and welcoming church with a heart for Aberdeen.

The Coach House, Kilmuir is a small, homely retreat house that offers a space for people to just be and rest. It is a place to re-balance and consider life, and is based the Trust was looking for a new website that they could manage themselves.

How the website was designed and built

The Coach House were very keen to have a website that they could update themselves. They also wanted to work with a company that was there to support them with the site if they needed help. Not having much IT experience there was a little bit of anxiety as to how the website would work, but we were able to work with Claire and her team to create a site that reflected the serenity that is encountered at The Coach House.

We worked closely with Claire to create the site that she had envisaged, and she was happy to use the Isaiah template for the build of the website. Fortunately Claire is an outstanding photographer and so we had a wealth of photographs to choose from that would work responsively.

• A visually impactful home page that reflects the ethos of The Coach House.
• Clear navigation via strong imagery to improve user-experience.
• The ability for information pages to be added as necessary.
• The ability for individuals to sign up for courses.

We worked closely with The Coach House team to create the site and provide them with training so that they could manage the site easily themselves.

We provided an event calendar so that the various retreats could be added in and optimised the site. We also installed a Secure Certificate onto the site.

How did the website switch from the old one to the new Church Pages website?

The site's A record and CNAME were switched to point to the new site so that the trust could maintain their email at their existing address.

Conclusion

The Church Pages team were very pleased to be able to work with Claire and her team to create such a beautiful site. Even though Claire felt very computer illiterate she found using Church Pages' software unbelievably easy, which came as a pleasant surprise!

Debs Peyton (CEO of Silver Cord)

Silver Cord is a Christian charity that came out of a love for older people, and a desire to see them cherished by society. The charity has a vision to see "intergenerational communities in which all ages feel equally welcomed, valued and recognised for their unique contributions', and believe that this is best facilitated through the local church.

How the website was designed and built

Silver Cord did not have a website, but Debs Peyton (formally Fidler) did have a logo that she had felt inspired to create at the beginning of the Charity's journey. and a domain. We used her logo as the starting point of the design, and by listening to Deb's heart we were able to design a website that reflected the strong ethos and values that she holds regarding older people.

Debs was happy to be guided on what type of images she needed to reflect what the charity was trying to achieve, and she was also able to provide copy for the site. We worked closely with Debs to make sure that the website told Silver Cord's story, and took time to understand the befriending process as well as how churches could play their role. 

Silver Cord chose the Isaiah Template for its site because of its versatility. We chose bright and engaging colours that complemented the silver and blue of the logo, and used a Google font that we thought worked well for the demographic.

The finished website benefits from the following:

• A strongly designed home page that has clear navigation.
• A clear sense of identity that has longevity designed into it.
• Clear calls to action for those wishing to access the service.
• Easy to use content manager that means Debs and her team can keep the site current and relevant/
