Have you tried being led in prayer by the new Alexa app...?

31 May 2018 14:11

Believe it or not, there is now an Alexa app from the Church of England which can lead you in daily prayer! Recently released by the Church of England, this new app allows Amazon Alexa users to find more answers to faith questions and to engage with the local church.

Why do we think this is great?

At Church Pages, we're all about using technology for God's glory - and this new Alexa skill does exactly this! 9% of all households in the UK own an Alexa so this Alexa skill opens up the opportunity for these users to engage with the church in a fresh way.

On a more personal note, I currently live with my visually impaired grandmother and she uses Alexa extensively to listen to the news. Showing her this app, it was great to see her engaging with scripture and praying the daily prayers. It's sometimes a struggle to get to church and, her old church does not yet list their sermons online, so we rely heavily on other routes to share the Word with her.

I love that 'faith comes by hearing' and it's an encouragement to see this happening!

How does it work?

If you own an Alexa, how do you use this new skill?

You start with "Alexa, ask the Church of England…" and then tag on any of these queries:

  • For the Ten Commandments
  • To read me the Apostle's Creed
  • For my nearest church
