Partnering with Church's Website Designer for New St Margaret's Church Website

26 November 2018 15:38

When St Margaret's Church, Angmering approached us for a Church Pages' website we were excited by the proposal for so many reasons. Firstly we had the opportunity to work once again with one of our favourite designers, Andy Ashdown of Ashdown Creative, and secondly St Margaret's wanted a rolling video on their home page that played as soon as the website was opened. The ability to add this functionality to a site already existed within the Church Pages' software, but St Margaret's is the first church to add this into their site.

St Margaret's Church is located in one of the prettiest villages in West Sussex, and has been a place of worship for Christians since the 13th Century. Despite being situated in a semi-rural location the church is thriving with around 300 members who are committed to following Jesus Christ in obedience to God’s Word, and empowered by God’s Spirit. What is so exciting to see is that the church is fully engaged in the lives of its community offering hope and friendship to those in the village.

How did Church Pages help?

The Church wanted to move across to Church Pages because they wanted a highly flexible and functional website that was very easy to administer, and had the ability to add in rolling video. The video was superbly shot and gives an excellent impression of church as a community that is full of life, friendship, and faith.

Ashdown Creative created a beautiful design, along with branding, for the site and added the content of the site themselves. We worked alongside Andy to build the framework of the website that reflected his design, and had all the functional elements that were required. The functional elements that we added included:

  • access control,
  • rolling responsive video,
  • presets for different style of pages,
  • contact form with automated workflow,
  • file uploads,
  • creation of filterable attributes for sermons
  • integration with Church Suite,
  • Google site verification
  • adding a responsive Google map,
  • adding structure data,
  • links to social media,
  • and optimisation of the site.

We also supported St Margaret's Angmering by buying new domains for the site and becoming the Name Server for their existing domain.

What does St Margaret's say...

It is always lovely to see a church that is thriving and actively looking at ways to engage their community. Being able to help with this project has been very satisfying and we are pleased with the feedback that we received from David Guthrie, St Margaret's:

"The redesign of our church identity and website was a major project for St Margaret’s. Our brand consultant and web designer, Andy Ashdown, of Ashdown Creative, guided us through the whole process together with Church Pages. We are extremely pleased with the result.

"The video on the home page of the website creates immediate interest for those wanting to know more about St Margaret’s or those just surfing the internet. We see the website, designed specifically to be outward looking, as St Margaret’s ‘electronic brochure’. The site also has a quick link to Church Suite for church members. Thanks to both Andy and Church Pages for guiding us through this complex and exciting process."
