How to choose images for your church website

21 December 2016 13:46

Here at Church Pages, we get asked a lot about how to choose images for a church website. We asked the head of our design team, Emma, to share her thoughts and here are her top three tips:

1. Choose images that give a feel for what your church is about

We are not expecting amazing photographs but in terms of making a good website, an awful lot of the positive impact comes from the imagery. It would be great to have imagery which gives the feel of what your church is about. Is it friendly and engaging? Then have photos of people connecting and talking and engaging with each other, photographs which convey relationship and love and positivity - if your church isn’t the most beautiful in terms of space then maybe focus on the people within the church.

2. Choose images that are large (and high quality!)

Ideally for the web, you need at least 1024 pixels wide and preferably larger up to 3000 pixels wide for the full width images. Also you need to be careful  to ensure these images are in focus.

3. You can choose stock images

You can use a lot of free stock if you’d like to have a look through and choose some: unsplash is a good site https://unsplash.com/ and you can search for things like church, faith, worship, bible etc. It’s always nice to have your own church and people in the site though too so a combination of them both can work well.

Can we help?
