How to Live Stream Church Services - A Response To Coronavirus

We have been busy taking calls from churches who still wish to provide a service for their congregation. How blessed we are that the internet can help us to do this.

Some of our churches are videoing their service and then want to share it with their congregation using their website while other churches are using their Facebook group/page to 'live stream' the service and then are using their website to share these services in one place.

If you would like help to do either of these things then we are here to help!

Method 1: Using YouTube and putting the videos of services on your Church Pages website

Here at Church Pages we are recommending that churches first upload their service video to YouTube using the instructions here.

You can then embed it on your Sermon page using the instructions here. Please note that if you don't use the instructions linked here then your video will break on mobile since YouTube doesn't supply embed code which is responsive to mobile and smaller screens. If you have problems with the instructions or it looks too complicated please get in touch and we will do what we can to help you.

It is then possible to add a button on your usual sermon list view to say 'watch service here' or similar. However, you will need to get in touch with us to do this as you will need your list view adjusting to make this possible. Or you can get in touch with us to set up a new list view for the videos of your services as can be seen here:

Method 2: Using Facebook to 'livestream' your service

This is a little more involved in that you will need to get streaming software first but Facebook has support on how to do this here together with suggestions for streaming software you can use. The main thing to remember when setting up your stream is that you need to select Use a persistent stream key if you want your stream key to be permanent. If this isn't selected, you won't be able to use this stream key again after the stream ends.

Once you have then live streamed your event, you can then embed this onto your website either on your sermon page or any other page by clicking  in the bottom right of your livestreaming video on Facebook to get an HTML code that you can copy and paste to your website.
